Increasing access to economic opportunity for women of Jaipur through self-employment.
Friends of I-India, formerly known as I-India Project Australia, was established in 2007 to support the work of I-India. I-India is a registered Non Government Organisation operating in Jaipur that began caring for some of the most unfortunate children in the world in 1993.
Friends of I-India is passionate about the women of Jaipur and seeing improvement to their families living standards by increasing access to economic opportunity through self-employment.
The goal of this project is to create women’s co-operatives, run by and for the benefit of the women themselves and their families, with the ongoing objective of creating leaders who will duplicate their training with their children and young village girls. I-India will provide support to underprivileged women through new skills, business and leadership training plus initial financial support to help them to start (or improve) their income generating capacity.
Self Help groups of women will form a community owned social-enterprise, brand named - "The Gudri Project". Female beneficiaries, as co-operative shareholders, will effectively participate and use their larger labour and buying power to create sustainable income and education opportunities for their members.
